Who can use this feature

Available on all plans

Anyone with a Google Classroom account can create and share assignments

Learn more about setting up Figma and FigJam in your school ->

Google Classroom is a free education platform that enables teachers to interact with students and share educational materials. Figma provides two ways to integrate FigJam files into your classroom:

  • Share FigJam files to Google Classroom: Create Google Classroom assignments in a FigJam file and share them with students.
  • FigJam add-on for Google Classroom: Seamlessly assign, collect, and grade FigJam files directly in your Google Classroom interface.

To access the Share to Google Classroom feature, you must have the Student or educator job title under your Figma account settings. Learn how to view and manage account settings →

Note: If your Figma account is part of an Education plan, you will need to verify your education status or contact the organization admin to update your account settings.

FigJam add-on for Google Classroom

Use the FigJam add-on for Google Classroom to manage your FigJam files directly in your classroom interface, including creating FigJam files and assignments, collecting work from your students, and grading the assignments.

Depending on your school’s Google Classroom configuration, you can install the add-on yourself, or you can work with one of your Workspace admins to install the add-on.

Note: Classroom add-ons are only available for Google Workspace for Education Plus edition or with the Teaching and Learning Upgrade.

If your school doesn’t use Google Workspace for Education Plus edition or the Teaching and Learning upgrade, you can still share FigJam files to Google Classroom.

To install the add-on:

  1. Go to the FigJam add-on Google Workspace Marketplace listing and click Install.

If the Install button is grayed out and you get the message "This application is now allowed by your administrator," instead follow the steps for Install the add-on (administrator).

Once installed, your FigJam add-on automatically appears in your Google Classroom when you create new assignments.
  2. Click FigJam in the add-ons to begin creating or attaching an assignment.

Install the add-on (administrator)

  1. As a Google Workspace admin, go to the FigJam add-on Google Workspace Marketplace listing and click Admin Install.
  2. Review the terms of installation and click Continue.
  3. When prompted to select which users to install the app for, select Everyone at your organization or Certain groups or organizational units, and click Finish.

Next, you may need to authorize Figma as a third-party app.

Authorize third-party app

Depending on the Workspace configuration, admins may need to approve Figma as a third-party app in order for students to access FigJam with their school-assigned Google account. We recommend that the Workspace admin complete these steps immediately after adding FigJam to your add-on allow list.

  1. Log in to the Google Admin console and go to Security > Access and data control > API controls.
  2. Select Manage third-party app access.
  3. Click Configure new app and search for the following App ID: 185512328996-3vsiqqcblicmou9otf99i24vup8729d1.apps.googleusercontent.com
  4. Select the app and follow the on-screen prompts. You can configure access for your entire domain, a group, or individual organizational units.
  5. In order to work correctly, we recommended that you configure Figma as a trusted app.
  6. Click Finish to complete the configuration.
