Before you start

Who can use this feature

Available on any team or plan.

Any team member can invite collaborators to a team. Members can invite others at a permission level equal, or less than their own.

Teams are shared workspaces where you can create resources, and collaborate on files and projects. Invite your co-workers and co-conspirators to your team to make the most of the collaborative design process in Figma.

Control how collaborators interact with your team with permissions. There are two main permission levels in a team: can view (viewers) and can edit (editors). Learn more about permissions in a team →

People can only invite other members at a permission level ≤ less than or equal to their own permissions:

  • Anyone with can edit access can invite with can view or can edit permissions
  • Anyone with can view access can invite with can view permissions

Tip: You can also invite people to individual files or projects within your team. Invite to projects, files, and prototypes →

Invitations

If you know a person's email address, you can add them to the team via an invitation. Figma will send an invitation email to their address with a button to accept the invite.

If they already have a Figma account, they will also receive an in app notification for the invitation, which they can accept to join the team. Accept invitations →

If they don't have an account, they can sign up for a Figma account as part of the acceptance process.

Invite to team

Starter or Education

In Starter or Education teams, a person's team permissions determine if they can edit team files and projects.

  1. Open the team page in the file browser.
  2. Click Share in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter their email address in the invite field.
  4. Click to adjust their permissions.
    • Select Can view to give them view-only access to the team. They'll only be able to view and comment on files and prototypes.
    • Select can edit to give them edit access to the team. This will allow them to edit any Figma Design or Figjam files in the team.
  5. Click Send invite to send an email invitation to their address. If they're already using Figma, they'll get an in app notification as well.

Professional, Organization, or Enterprise

In Professional teams and teams in an organization, a person’s seat type determines which Figma products a user has access to. Their team permissions (can view or can edit) control their default access to the team and team-level actions.

  • Can view gives them view-only access to the team. They'll only be able to view and comment on files and prototypes.
  • Can edit gives them edit access to the team. This will allow them to perform any team-level actions, like managing projects.

Permissions set on individual files determine which specific files a user can edit. Learn more about permissions.

  1. Open the team page in the file browser.
  2. Click Share in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter their email address in the invite field.
  4. Click to select their permissions.
  5. Click Send invite to send an email invitation to their address. If they're already using Figma, they'll get an in app notification as well.

Team invite links

  • Supported on Starter, Education, and Professional teams only

Team invite links let team members invite other collaborators to your team via a dedicated link. Like team invites, you can invite collaborators with can view and can edit permissions.

Figma will add anyone who clicks that link to the team. People who are logged into Figma under multiple accounts can choose which account they want to join the team on.

Team admins can reset invite links or turn them off to expire existing links which haven't been redeemed.

Note: On Professional teams, users invited by a team link are given a free View seat by default. You can change a user’s seat at any time.

Copy invite link

  1. Open the team page in the file browser.
  2. Click Share in the top-right corner.
  3. Click to select which permission you want for the link. You can set an invite link to can view or can edit permissions.
  4. Click Copy link to add the link to your clipboard.
  5. Paste or send the link to anyone you want to join the team.

Manage team links

Team admins can turn invite links on and off, or reset them. Resetting an invite link generates a new link and prevents anyone who hasn't joined the team yet from joining via the previous link.

  1. Open the team page in the file browser.
  2. Click Share in the top-right corner.
  3. Click and select Reset invite links to expire the current link and generate a new one.
  4. Click and select Turn off invite links to turn off invite links. Members can still invite collaborators by email.
