AI considerations and best practices

There are a few things to keep in mind when using any AI tool:

Accuracy

AI-powered tools are designed to provide information and results based on artificial intelligence algorithms and data collected from around the internet. It’s important to note that the accuracy and reliability of these results may vary.

There is a possibility of inaccuracies, omissions, or misleading outcomes due to the complexities and limitations of AI technologies. Therefore, the information provided by the tool should be regarded as a general reference and not a fact or a substitute for expert advice or your own research.

Your responsibilities

  • You should exercise your own judgment and discretion when using AI-powered tools. It’s essential to verify and cross-check the information provided by the tool before making any decisions, taking actions, or relying on it for critical matters.
  • You should let others know when you’re using or presenting AI-generated outputs. For some features, like summarize stickies, Figma will indicate when an output is AI-generated.
  • You will only use AI features in accordance with Figma’s Acceptable Use Policy.

Data usage

Figma’s agreement with OpenAI provides that data is not to be used for model training. Data inputted into AI features is sent to OpenAI for processing and generating AI output. Data is temporarily retained in OpenAI’s environment to provide the services, however it is not used for model training.

Here’s an example of how the features work at a high level:

  1. You input or select some text in a sticky note as a prompt.
  2. The prompt text is sent to the OpenAI API along with some context about the action you want to achieve, like asking for a summary of the selected text or more information on a subject.
  3. OpenAI returns a text output that attempts to match whatever instructions or context are included with the original input.
  4. The output is written back to the FigJam board as a new sticky.

AI is optional

The AI features in FigJam are automatically available on paid plans, and can be disabled at any time.
