  1. Select the Marker, Sticky, or Shape tool.
  2. Click next to the current color palette.

  4. Enter a name for the new palette.
  5. Select a color tile, then use the eyedropper tool or hex code field to select a new color. You can create up to nine colors per palette.

Note

FigJam may lighten palette colors on stickies and highlights for better legibility and accessibility. This could result in different palette colors (such as black and dark gray) having the same variation for stickies (light gray). When this happens, FigJam will consolidate colors of the same variation into one, so it’s possible the number of colors you see in the color menu differs from the custom palette you created.

Set custom palette as default

Once you create a custom palette, you can set it as the default color palette for your team from the team settings page.

  1. If you're on the Starter or Professional plan, click All projects. If you're on the Organization or Enterprise plan, navigate to the team where you'd like to set a custom palette as default.
  2. Click the down arrow icon next to the team name and select View settings.
  3. Under the Shared section, click View team’s FigJam palettes.
  4. Click Set as default next to the palette you want to use.

The palette will be used as the default for new files in the team. For existing files, you’ll need to swap to a new custom palette ↓

Note

Selecting multiple objects with mixed colors and changing the color of the new selection will override any previously applied colors.

Sticky notes

Modifying the color of a sticky note on the board will change the default color of the Sticky note tool in the toolbar. It does not affect the color of pre-existing stickies.

The new default color will be applied to all future sticky notes until the color is changed again.

Modifying the color of a shape on the board changes the default color of the Shape tool in the toolbar. It does not affect the color of shapes already on the board.

Just like sticky notes, the new default color will be applied to all future shapes until the color is changed again.

Connectors

Changing the color of a connector will change the background color of the connector text when the Text background property is applied. The background for connector text can be removed using the color picker in the connector's toolbar.

The new default color will be applied to all future connectors until the color is changed again.

Note

Text colors within a sticky note, shape or connector cannot be modified.

Text

Unlike the text in shapes, stickies and connectors, text created with the Text tool can take on different colors. However, changing the color of one text object will not apply the same styling to future text objects.

Attempting to change the color of a substring within a text object will modify all text color in the same object. The default color for a new text object is always Charcoal.
