Before you start
  • Available on any team or plan
  • Anyone with can edit access in a FigJam file can use tables.
  • Check out the Guide to FigJam →

Tables help you organize, synthesize, and structure information on your FigJam board. Multiple people can edit and collaborate on tables at the same time.

Use tables for:

  • Bringing data to team meetings—you can start from scratch, or copy and paste data from external spreadsheets
  • Organizing items in an easy-to-read format
  • Tracking project status and milestones
  • Prioritizing ideas in adjustable rows and columns

Add a table

  1. Select one of the following options:
    • From the toolbar: Click the Table icon.
    • Keyboard shortcut: Press Shift + T on your keyboard.
  2. Click and drag to create the number of columns and rows you need.
  3. Release to place the table on your board.

Once you have created your table, click into any cell to add text.

Note: You can add text and stamps to individual cells. Other objects (such as stickies, shapes, or widgets) can be layered on top of tables, but do not anchor to the table if you move it or export it.

Edit and format tables

You can edit the styling, size, and position of cells, rows, and columns in your table.

Select cells, rows, and columns

  • To select the entire table, single click on the table.
  • To select an individual cell, first select the table, then click on a cell.
  • To select an entire row or column, click the grabber icon on the left of a row or the top of a column.
  • To select multiple rows, columns, or cells:
    • Hold ⌘ Command (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) and click to select each item.
    • Hold ⇧ Shift and click to select all items within a range.

Tip! To jump to the next cell, press Tab. To jump to the previous cell, hold ⇧ Shift and press Tab.

Edit font and color

Select the cell, row, column, or table you want to edit. From the toolbar, you can:

  • Edit cell background color
  • Adjust font size and typeface
  • Add font styling (bold and strikethrough)
  • Create links
  • Create bulleted or numbered lists
  • Align text to the left, center, or right

Select items in a table, and then edit cell color and font styling from the edit toolbar.

  2. Right-click on the selected cell(s).

Duplicate rows and columns

You can duplicate rows and columns within a FigJam table.

  2. Press ⌘ Command + D (Mac), or Ctrl + D (Windows).

Duplicated rows are added beneath the last selected row. Duplicated columns are added to the right of the last selected column.

Copy and paste table content

Copy and paste from external spreadsheets

You can copy and paste content from other spreadsheets (such as Google Sheets) into FigJam to create a new table.

  1. Copy the cells from your spreadsheet.
  2. Click an empty spot on the canvas to deselect any objects.
  3. Press ⌘ Command + V (Mac) or Ctrl + V (Windows) to paste the spreadsheet on your board.

Tip! Not all spreadsheets work the same. If you’re having issues pasting a spreadsheet from the program you’re using into FigJam, try exporting the spreadsheet to a .csv file and then importing it into your FigJam file.

Copy and paste between FigJam tables

You can also copy and paste between two FigJam tables.

  1. Select the cell(s), row(s), or column(s) from the first table.
  2. Press ⌘ Command + C (Mac) or Ctrl + C (Windows) to copy.
  3. Select the cell(s), row(s), or column(s) where you want to paste the content in the second table.

Note: If you select the entire table (rather than specific cells, rows, or columns), a new table is created when you paste.

  4. Press ⌘ Command + V (Mac) or Ctrl + V (Windows) to paste.

Content is copied from one FigJam table to another.

Copy and pasting between tables carries over any text formatting. Pasted content will replace any previous content.

If the number of cells you copy is greater than the number of cells in the second table, additional rows/columns will be added to the table when you paste to accommodate the additional items.
