Set an expiration on a public link Change or remove an expiration date

Who can use this feature

Available on the Enterprise plan

If you want to share a design file or prototype with a broad audience for a limited time, you can set an expiration on the file’s public link.

After a public link expires, Figma automatically changes the access setting on the file back to the last-used private setting. Anyone using the public link to access the file will no longer be able to do so. People at your organization with access to the file when it is set to private, and people invited to the file, will continue to have access.

Set an expiration on a public link

You can set a public link to expire as soon as one hour, or as long as one year, after the link is generated.

If you can’t set an expiry for as long as you’d like, or you need to set an expiration date every time you share a public link, your organization may require an expiration on public links.

  1. Open the file or prototype and share it.
    • For files, click Share in the right sidebar.
    • For prototypes, click Share prototype in the toolbar.
  2. Click Can view/Can edit to change the access setting on the file or prototype.
  3. Change the access to Anyone.
  4. Under Additional security, check Link expiration.
  5. Choose from the available presets, or select Custom time.
  6. Click Save.

Note: If Anyone isn't available in the list of access settings, an admin may have disabled public links in your organization or current workspace.

Change or remove an expiration date

  1. Open the file or prototype and share it.
    • For files, click Share in the right sidebar.
    • For prototypes, click Share prototype in the toolbar.
  2. Click Can view/Can edit to change the access setting on the file or prototype.
  3. Change the access to Anyone.
  4. Uncheck Link expiration to remove the expiration, or select a new expiration option from the dropdown to change it.

Note: If your organization requires an expiration on public links, you won’t be able to change or remove the expiration date without changing the access setting back to private first.
