Table of Contents
Your name and avatar make up your identity in Figma. Figma uses your name and avatar to identify you in any files, projects, teams, or organizations you interact with. They also appear in the Figma Community, FigJam sticky notes (name only), and FigJam stamps (avatar only).
When you view a file or prototype, Figma adds your avatar to the toolbar and your name on your multiplayer cursor. This allows everyone to see who is currently accessing the file.
Update your name and avatar
Update account name
- Open the file browser and click your profile in the top-left.
- Select Settings from the account menu.
- Select the Account tab.
- Under Name, click Change name.
- Type in the new name in the field.
- Click Save to apply.
Update avatar
If you haven't added an avatar, we will identify you by a colored circle with your first initial. If you use Gravatar, Figma will use the avatar provided by Gravatar instead.
You can upload an avatar from your computer to customize your appearance so collaborators and others in the community know who you are.
Supported image formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, and SVG. GIFs will be converted into a static image.
Note: Image files must be a minimum of 500x500px when uploading for avatars. This reduces blurriness, so that a clear avatar can be used across Figma and FigJam.
- Open the file browser and click your profile in the top-left.
- Select Settings from the account menu.
- Select the Account tab.
- Under your avatar, click Edit to upload a new image.
- A window will pop up that allows you to select an avatar from your computer. Select an image from your computer and click Open to upload.
- Use the slider to select the desired zoom/crop level and click Save image to apply.
