Publish, update, or unpublish a site

Figma Sites was released in open beta at Config 2025. It is currently available on all paid plans, with a limited Starter plan experience coming soon. Learn more about what’s included in the beta.
Who can use this feature

Publishing your site is the final step before sharing it with the world.
After publishing it, you can make incremental changes to your site, add or remove webpages, or remove the entire site from the public web. You can also set up a custom domain for it.
A note from the legal team
Figma is not responsible for content that is published from Figma Sites. Published sites are accessible to anyone on the public web, and you are responsible for complying with any regulations or laws that apply to your content or any data you collect from visitors to your published sites. If you're unsure about what those obligations are or how to comply with them, please consult a lawyer.
Figma reserves the right to remove any published content that is reported and determined to violate Figma’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Publish a site
Caution: Figma includes every webpage on the canvas in your published site. During the beta, we recommend moving any pages that aren’t ready for publishing to a different file.
To publish your site:
- Click the File icon in the left navigation bar.
- Click Publish in the left sidebar.
In the publishing window, review the details below before clicking Publish.
The site title appears in browser tabs, search engine results, and social media. Adding a title helps people understand what site they viewing, improves SEO, and improves accessibility.
Tip: We recommend reviewing and updating the site settings before publishing.
After publishing your site, it will become available at a random figma.site subdomain, like https://hut-grid-glade.figma.site. Once published, you can add a custom domain for your site.
Note: It’s not currently possible to change your assigned figma.site subdomain.
The default status is Not published. If the site is live, you’ll see Published instead.
Issues shows a list of technical issues that might prevent your site from working properly. Click the right arrow to explore flagged issues.
We recommend addressing all issues before publishing, but it’s not required.
Note: In some cases, a site will fail to publish. If this occurs, we recommend you:
- Fix any issues identified in the Publish modal
- Wait a few minutes, then try again
Once you publish your site, the publishing window will display the following:
- The site’s domain, which is autogenerated by Figma. Click the domain to visit your published site. You can now switch to using a custom domain if you prefer.
- The status will change to Published.
- A new field will appear showing the last published date.
Update a published site
If you need to modify existing content, add new webpages, or remove webpages, you can publish an update to your site.
Any changes you make on the canvas will only appear on your published site after you publish them. For example, if you delete a webpage from the canvas, it will remain on your published site until you publish an update.
To publish changes, follow the same instructions as above.
Republish a previous version of a site
If needed, you can revert to a previously published version of your site. Republishing a previous version will restore the HTML, CSS, and other files that were generated at the time of publishing. The result of this action is:
- The previous version is immediately published.
- Everything on the canvas will remain as-is. Republishing a previous version does not modify your site file.
- A new entry titled Republished previous version appears in the Publish history modal.
To republish a previous version:
- Click the File icon in the left navigation bar.
- Click Publish in the left sidebar.
- Click the right arrow at the end of the Last published row.
- Navigate to the version you’d like to restore, click More, then select Republish.
Unpublish a site
Unpublishing your site will remove it from the public web. If you decide to republish later, Figma will reuse the same domain.
- In the site you want to unpublish, click Site settings in the left navigation bar.
- If required, click General in the left sidebar.
- Click Unpublish.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my published site hosted?
Sites are hosted using Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Unites States. The domain and routing is served by Cloudflare.
A GIF isn't working on my published site, what should I do?
If a GIF or WebP image isn't playing on your published site, it may be because it exceeds Cloudflare's 50-megapixel limit for animated images. To calculate the number of megapixels:
- Multiply the width by the height of the image.
- Multiply the result by the number of frames in the animation.
- Divide the final number by 1,000,000.
The resulting number must be 50 or less. To fix the issue, consider resizing the animated image or using a smaller file.
Can I export the code of my site?
It's not currently possible to export your site's code for external publishing.
